Romero Britto is an artist who impresses you not with his talent, but with his heart. Britto’s exuberant style, combining neo-pop cubism, bold outline and bright exotic colors transmits a positive upbeat feeling to his viewers. His unique style, using simple and direct images, has captured the attention of art collectors, critics and media alike.

Britto admires Picasso as one of the greatest artists of all time and seems to be inspired by similar primitivistic ideas a s the modern master. The primitivism that Britto explores is intrinsic. He recaptures the ecstasy of the imagination. His spontaneity and playfulness bring us back to the freedom lost in our infancy… a rediscovery of a human pureness so often forgotten and discredited.

The young Brazilian artist was born in 1963 and began painting at the age of eight. He had his first public exhibition in Brazil in 1979. Britto currently resides in South Florida with his wife and son.

Britto’s extravagantly colorful paintings caught the eye of Michel Roux, president of Carillon Importers. He asked Romero to be a part of the ABSOLUT Showcase, painting images of the vodka which would be viewed around the world. This major commission allowed Britto to be recognized and shortly became one of the most distinct artists of the decade.

Soon after, he was commissioned for many other major productions, including “Artists for Amnesty,” the American Cancer Society, the Red Cross and the fight against AIDS.

Britto’s work has appeared in over 60 national and international publications including Arts and Antiques in America. The media exposure has helped Britto win recognition from both the established gallery clientele as well as commissions from such celebrated collectors as: The Swedish Royal Family, former President George Bush, Whitney Houston, and William Woodside. Internationally, Britto’s work has been exhibited in London, Stockholm, Madrid, Munich, Tokyo, Italy, and Brazil.

Romero Britto… the embodiment of art for the 90’s. His strong message reflects his optimism and his enthusiasm for life, energizing everyone around him.
